We woke up to rain and chilly temps as we prepared to hike up 900 feet through the forest. We saw very few hikers. Finally we reached above the tree line where we climbed 600 foot in about 40 minutes so at lot of serious ups along some switchbacks. We looked for wild horses but did not see any of them in the wet weather. There was a lot of gorse and pink and white heather in bloom.
At lunch we met an Italian marathoner who was walking the equivalent of a marathon each day. After lunch we drove to the town of Lugo and I was so tired I slept the whole way. Lugo is an old walled Roman city and an UNESCO heritage site because the Roman walls are still intact. We walked the walls to the Cathedral which is known for constantly displaying the host of communion. The church had a lot of silver and a shrine to St. Frolien who is the patron saint of the city. We walked to the square to see a concert and then outside the walls to try to find the restaurants inside the walls. We finally did.
