Tourism Central

Who would have thought that the relatively small dock about 100 feet from the hotel could hold not one but two river barges of tourists.  That and an influx of buses to move them around plus a tour group of cyclists with their support vehicle set up in the town and this place was as busy as Paris!
I needed one more trip to the Castle, this time with better footwear than yesterday so I could scamper over lots of the ruins.  The walk up was filled with American and German tourists and their guides but with better shoes, it was possible do go off the trail and avoid them.  The walls are just magnificent and a couple trails up an adjoining hill, where one can imagine Richard went to observe building landed some awesome photos which show the magnitude of what was built.
The walk down included a nice chat with a tourist from Nevada.  He was telling me all the places the barge is taking them and was very interested in the two week jaunt through Normandy.  He was a child when D-day occurs but called it the most important event in the 20th century and was very much looking forward to seeing the beaches.
As I write this I sit out on the patio overlooking the Seine.  One barge has left, the 2nd is still at the dock.  Commercial barges are passing in the other direction.  I much prefer my method of travel.
